Miu Miu opens in Chongqing

Prada Group brand Miu Miu is continuing its expansion in China, opening a new store in Chongqing.

Situated at World Financial Centre, the 500 sqm store extends over two levels and showcases the full Miu Miu collection.

As expected the store features bold design elements.

The glass front and backlit steel sheet curtain stands 16 metres tall and extends horizontally for more than 30 metres. Brushed steel sections set the rhythm and frame the window displays and light boxes.

A black matte marble staircase connects the two floors on the inside, where the brand’s signature traits emerge alongside contemporary design features. The store, designed by architect Roberto Baciocchi, features several spacious rooms outfitted with damask wall fabric, floor-to-ceiling mirrors and original display niches in clear honeycomb acrylic and polished steel.

The use of the classic and contemporary side-by-side combines with the palladian marble floor and honeycomb acrylic ceiling to create a “sophisticated atmosphere”.

Chongqing is China’s largest and most populated directly-controlled city, with a population of almost 29 million inhabitants.
