Fancl bows out

Japanese skincare brand Fancl is closing its 13 stores across Singapore by the end of March.

The move is part of its restructuring strategy, it says.

Customers who are members of its loyalty programme have been advised to redeem their points by end of this month.

In November 2013, Fancl said it would cease its retail operations in Singapore and Taiwan due to losses. It is expecting a massive loss of 891 million yen ($8.7 million) in the second quarter ending March 2014.

However, it will continue operating in Singapore as wholesaler after April 2014.
