China’s Marisfrolg buys Italy’s Krizia

Chinese retailer Shenzhen Marisfrolg Fashion Co is taking control of Italian ready-to-wear brand Krizia.

Marisfrolg has acquired Krizia for an undisclosed amount and Marisfrog’s owner Zhu Chongyun will become chairman and creative director of Krizia.

The Chinese company plans to revamp the brand by opening flagship stores in Chinese cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Guangzhou and Shenzhen over the next five years.

“My team and I are delighted to have found in Zhu ChongYun a successor to our work. She has strength and talent and is willing to lead Krizia’s international growth,” said Krizia’s founder Mariuccia Mandelli.

Marisfrolg said turnover in 2013 was $419 million. It has the highest market share in high-end womenswear in China.
