Taiwanese restaurant hits Philippines

Taiwanese restaurant chain Hot Star has expanded into the Philippines, opening its first outlet in Manila.

The chain, known for its huge deep-fried chicken breast fillets, is opening at the new Blue Bay Walk along Macapagal Avenue, just a few minutes away from SM Mall of Asia.

In addition, dishes including rice meals, pasta, sandwiches, fish fillets and more, will be introduced to suit local palate.

Businessman Richard Chua, owner of home grown Peanut Butter Company, will operate the Taiwanese chain.

From its humble beginning in 1992, Hot Star Large Fried Chicken has slowly begun expansion throughout the Asia-Pacific region, expanding into Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, China, Indonesia and now the Philippines.
