Victoria’s Secret eyes China

American lingerie and beauty retailer Victoria’s Secret pins hope on China for growth.

Parent company L Brands plans to expand the brand overseas by opening more than 100 new stores this year, including a first store in mainland China.

L Brands CEO Les Wexner said it plans to make Victoria’s Secret stores as “ubiquitous as Starbucks”.

Last year, L Brands opened 160 Victoria’s Secret stores abroad, taking its store count outside the US to 863. The previous year has also seen the expansion of Victoria’s Secret to the Middle East through partnership with M.L. Alshaya Co.

Victoria’s Secret also offers fragrances, accessories such as bags, leather goods and luggage besides lingerie and beauty products.
