Chinese e-commerce site targets foreigners

China Unicom has partnered with Vesta China to launch an English language online store for international shoppers.

China United Network Communications Group (China Unicom)’s Beijing branch has signed an exclusive agreement with UniMobile, Vesta’s China subsidiary, to launch an English language e-commerce website that sells China Unicom products and services suitable to international visitors and expats.

UniMobile will design, develop, host and maintain China Unicom Beijing branch’s new English Online Store (EOS) and Vesta will manage international credit card payments for EOS purchases made with major credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club and JCB.

As the only GSM/WCDMA/LTE operator in China, China Unicom is well positioned to serve international visitors and expats who wish to use their own GSM/WCDMA/LTE handsets and tablets while in China.

In addition to providing mobile services for these devices, the English language online store offers customers the option to purchase new handsets, local SIM cards and recharges for prepaid phones.

“With the new English Online Store, China Unicom Beijing branch is in a unique position to deliver mobile services to the untapped international visitors market,” said XJ Wang, Vesta’s VP and GM, China.
