FamilyMart eyes China growth

Japanese convenience chain FamilyMart plans a massive expansion in China.

FamilyMart plans opening 200 new stores across the market in 2014, demonstrating its upbeat outlook for China.

It will enter new city markets including Beijing, Dongguan and Wuxi.

The convenience chain has 1100 stores in China, of which 800 are in Shanghai.

Meanwhile, in Japan, FamilyMart has partnered with Fujio to launch convenience stores with restaurant facilities. It is planning to open some 3000 new outlets locally over the next five years.
