South Korea’s Lotte expands to Guam

South Korean based Lotte has expanded its duty-free retailing business into Guam.

Lotte will open at Guam International Airport on July 23 after it won the right to operate duty-free shops at the airport until 2022.

“The fact that Lotte sidelined DFS to take over the operating right is significant, as is the fact that the Guam operation will be the first for the company on US territory,” said a person familiar with the matter.

Lotte is also slated to open its first duty free shop in Japan at Kansai International Airport in September.

The new openings will add to its current presence in South Korea, Singapore and Indonesia.
