Gome focuses on omni-channel strategy

Electrical appliances and consumer electronics retailer Gome will continue to operate an “omni-channel retailer” strategy.

Gome president Wang Junzhou said they will pursue the optimisation and development of a store network, stepping up the development of e-commerce businesses and mobile terminal businesses.

It plans to accelerate the integration of gome.com.cn and 1605 offline stores.

It says it will continue strategic cooperation with Wumart, MoPark and Lianhua. It will also step up the strategic alliances with supermarkets and department stores in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Hebei, Henan, Liaoning and Shandong.

The plan comes after achieving satisfactory results in the first half of the year. The retailer reported net profit during the first six months rose 115 per cent to 693 million yuan ($112.7 million).

Online sales now account 10 per cent of the company’s total revenue, which increased 7.4 per cent to 29.12 billion yuan.

“At the start of the year, we said we aimed for five per cent same-store sales growth, and we achieved that. We are full of confidence for the second half of the year,” said Junzhou.
