Marrybrown plots India expansion

Malaysian halal quick service restaurant Marrybrown plans further openings in India – this time, in the south.

Marrybrown, whose offer includes fried chicken and a satay burger, plans to increase its India store count from 48 to 75 by the end of the year.

“We are seeing growth in smaller towns like Rajapalayam, Dindugul and other places in Tamil Nadu. We would like to leverage the first mover advantage by opening outlets in smaller towns in the southern states,” said S Ajith, director, MGM Entertainments, master franchisee for Marrybrown in India.

He said the expansion will be through a mix of owned and franchisee outlets.

Marrybrown’s Indian menu includes vegetarian options to cater to local palate.
