Joyce Group opens Alexander Wang Macau

Alexander Wang, the Chinese-American fashion star, has opened a boutique in Macau.
Alexander Wang Macau has opened in partnership with Hong Kong;s Joyce Group in the Promenade shopping precinct inside the new Galaxy Macau resort.
Located on the ground floor, the boutique covers 1200 sqft and offers the complete range of men’s and women’s ready-to-wear, T by Alexander Wang and accessories collections, as well as the Objects collection.
Wang, who this year left Balenciaga as creative director after three years, has 78 stores worldwide – his first in Hong Kong opened in 2012. This month he opened his first European flagship store in London as his eponymous fashion label continues to grow (it’s now valued at more than US$130 million).
The American designer’s first flagship store opened in New York’s Soho district in 2011, six years after he set up the label.
The Macau store reflects Wang’s utilitarian style. Charcoal terrazzo floors are accented by soft grey wool carpet, while matching plaster walls create an industrial vibe.
Born and raised in San Francisco, Wang moved to New York to attend the Parsons School of Design. In 2005 he launched of his own label. His first catwalk collection was presented in autumn 2007. A year later he was named recipient of the Vogue/CFDA Fashion Fund, and launched his first handbag collection the same year. In 2009 he was named Swarovski Womenswear Designer of the Year. The same year, Wang launched his Women’s T by Alexander Wang and Footwear lines. Men’s T by Alexander Wang followed a year later, with his men’s ready-to-wear line debuting in 2011.
