Retail plan for Dempsey Rd

Two prime plots of land on Dempsey Rd are to go to development tender for retail and food and beverage use.

The Singapore Land Authority (SLA) and the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) will conduct a tender for Blocks 17 and 18, located inside the Dempsey cluster of Tanglin Village.

The two government bodies will be looking for developers who can introduce more interesting lifestyle concepts and strengthen the suburb’s appeal as a tourist and lifestyle destination.

The SLA says it will impose a ‘Price and Quality’ evaluation of bids for the two sites, balancing the quality of the proposal with the price, with price having lesser weight in the decision.

“The introduction of the Price and Quality tender will help bolster Tanglin Village’s unique character and charm as a popular lifestyle enclave for all Singaporeans,” said Lee Seng Lai, director of land operations (private) division of the SLA.

“As co-evaluators in the revised tender process, we hope to see exciting new brands and concepts that can further enhance the buzz of the precinct, and continue to sustain the vibrant Dempsey atmosphere,” added Ranita Sundramoorthy, director of attractions, dining and retail with the STB.

“The Dempsey cluster appeals to both locals and visitors because of its unique character, diverse dining experiences and retail options.”
