Hong Kong Customs officers have smashed another counterfeit syndicate, and seized some 900 fake goods in a Causeway Bay raid.
The raid took place last week, but was only announced by authorities today.
Acting on information provided by the public, Customs officers conducted a strike-and-search operation on an upstairs showroom, situated in a residential building. The store was was not open to the public and only served acquainted customers, according to a Customs spokesperson.
“In the operation, more than 900 items of suspected counterfeit products valued at about $620,000, including ladies apparel and leather goods, were seized. Two women and one man, all aged 45, were arrested. They have been released on bail pending further investigation.”
Customs says it will continue to take stringent enforcement actions to combat infringing activities.
“Members of the public are recommended to purchase items at shops with good reputations.”
Traders caught selling infringing and counterfeit goods are liable to criminal sanctions.
Under the Trade Descriptions Ordinance, it is an offence to sell or possess for sale any goods with any forged trademark. Upon conviction, offenders are liable to a maximum punishment of five years in jail and a fine of $500,000.

Last month, Customs officers raided an upstairs showroom in Mong Kok and seized about 1200 suspected copied products valued at about $500,000, including leather goods, watches, apparel, sunglasses and accessories.
