Lane Crawford introduces Apple Pay

Mainland Chinese customers of luxury department store Lane Crawford can now make purchases using Apple Pay.
All the retailer’s stores in the mainland have introduced the service, which covers credit and debit cards. The card numbers are not stored on the device, nor on Apple servers. Instead, a unique device account number is assigned, encrypted and stored in the Secure Element on mobile devices. Each transaction is authorised with a special one-time dynamic security code.
“We are very excited to be among the first retailers to launch Apple Pay in China,” says Lane Crawford president Andrew Keith.
“Offering Apple Pay as an option is another important step toward an even stronger connected commerce strategy, constantly evolving and leveraging on the digital and mobile world, which is vitally important in Asia.”
Apple Pay is easy to set up, and users will continue to receive the rewards and benefits offered by their credit and debit cards. In stores, the system works with iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and Apple Watch.
Founded in 1850, Hong Kong-headquartered Lane Crawford has more than 670 outlets across 50 cities in China and Southeast Asia, as well as a global online store.
