Snickers warning in Hong Kong

A warning has been issued in Hong Kong for consumers to avoid eating Snickers Miniatures confectionery made in The Netherlands as the packs may contain pieces of plastic.
Issued by the Centre for Food Safety (CFS) of the Hong Kong Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, the warning concerns 130g. packs made by Mars Nederland and with a best-before date of July 17, sold by 759 Store.
Through its routine Food Incident Surveillance System, the CFS learned that the manufacturer had initiated a recall of specific batches of products. Subsequently, the CFS uploaded the alert to its webpage and launched an investigation immediately. It found that one of the affected batches had been imported into Hong Kong and sold by 759 Store.
Eighty boxes had been supplied, and there was no remaining stock, says a CFS spokesman. The retailer has stopped selling the affected batch and removed it from the shop’s shelves.
A recall has been initiated with hotlines set up.
