Singapore Pokemon Cafe pops up

A popup Singapore Pokemon Cafe following two other character-based outlets in the city – Hello Kitty Orchard Garden at Changi Airport and Pompompurin Cafe at Orchard Central – is “purely coincidental”, say its collaborators.

Open until the end of July, the Pokemon Cafe is a temporary reincarnation of Everything with Fries (EWF) at Bugis Junction. With Pikachu as the main character, the cafe has adapted its original menu inspired by the Pokemon video game’s characters and stories.

There is a photo booth installed just inside the cafe, and there are occasional appearances by a Pikachu mascot. Decked out with Pokemon imagery, the cafe also features exclusive placemats and coasters.

Every order of the Pikachu Smiling Rice Omelette with Primal Groudon’s Magma Sauce (S$25, or US$18) and Pikachu’s Sweeeeet Pancake ($20) comes with a take-home Pokeball mug.

The rice omelette features a Pikachu face made of saffron rice, with omelette ears.

Rare Candy ($20) is a beef patty and mashed potatoes covered with crepe and Pikachu ears made of monaka. The salad is shaped like a Pokeball.

Other delicacies include Special Move Fire Blast, Pokemon Truffle Fries and Primal Kyogre’s Dessert Plate.
Original merchandise, such as T-shirts, keychains and a tote bag have been produced specially for the cafe, where they will be sold exclusively alongside other official Pokemon products.

Parco Singapore mall is giving away original Pikachu characters in the Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire games for Nintendo. Customers need to present their official receipts from the Pokemon cafe to receive a one-time download serial code.
