Hong Kong has first cryotherapy centre

Introducing wellness technology to Hong Kong, Polaris has opened the first cryotherapy centre in Causeway Bay.
The new business has taken space on the 10th floor of the Lee Theatre Plaza shopping centre.
Used by athletes and Hollywood stars, cryotherapy is a non-invasive treatment that offers benefits for beauty, overall wellness and athletic performance. It involves exposing the skin to dry nitrogen gas that reaches sub-zero temperatures to trigger a natural response from the body.
Cryotherapy is claimed to help speed up muscle recovery, reduce inflammation, encourage cell rejuvenation and boost collagen levels. Benefits are said to include increased collagen production, weight loss, energy-level and metabolism boost, strengthened immune system and improved blood circulation.

In its 2000 sqft (185.8 sqm) centre, Polaris is launching with three cryotherapy treatments: whole body, localised and cryo facials.
During a whole-body session, a cryosauna is filled in a slow controlled pattern with dry nitrogen gas to cover the body (excluding the head) for three minutes. Localised sessions and cryo facials involve the gas being released over specific areas of exposed skin. The cold temperatures stimulate blood circulation and boost oxygen and nutrient supply to targeted areas of the body, along with the release of endorphins to relieve stress and increase energy levels.
Polaris is the exclusive Asia Pacific partner for Impact Cryotherapy machines, used by major league teams in the US to enhance the performance of their athletes.
