Colliers Hong Kong has added veteran leasing specialist Cynthia Ng to its retail team.
A former award-winning broker, Ng is charged with helping retail services division head Sebastian Skiff expand the company’s retail work in the face of a sharp downturn in consumer spending. The former CBRE director is the fourth hire within weeks by Colliers International’s retail division in Hong Kong.
“We are taking decisive action to reinvigorate growth and restore the momentum of our retail business,” says Colliers Hong Kong head Nigel Smith. “While there may be macroeconomic factors that influence the retail market in Hong Kong, we are confident that new opportunities are emerging and will generate a positive outcome for the business.”
An indication of this is a 13 per cent growth in revenue and a 14.9 per cent increase in net property revenue reported by Link REIT, which manages the largest portfolio of shopping space in the city by area. Colliers says it is expecting particularly strong growth in dining, lifestyle fashion, affordable luxury and beauty products.
With more than 13 years’ experience in leasing, Ng was most recently director with the retail service team at CBRE, where she worked for more than five years. A graduate of the University of Technology, Sydney, she specialises in helping international brands enter the Hong Kong market.
“Cynthia is a key hire,” says Skiff, who joined Colliers late last year after more than 30 years in the region’s retail real estate industry. As well as Ng, Skiff has brought on board former CBRE China retail broker Colly Tu, retail research analyst Mervin Ling from DTZ/Cushman & Wakefield, and Kinson Wong from Savills.
