Visa Hong Kong introduces Apple Pay

Global payments technology company Visa Hong Kong has introduced Apple Pay for eligible cardholders at selected merchants.
“In Hong Kong, contactless payments have become a necessity for everyday life. Consumers and retailers realise the greater convenience and faster checkouts for busy people,” says Visa Hong Kong/Macau country manager Caroline Ada.
In a Visa study, 77 per cent of Hong Kong people surveyed say they are likely to try out or adopt new ways of paying. Moreover, 78 per cent say they will prefer smartphone as the device for making everyday payments.
Mobile security measures in Apple Pay help protect cardholders. The actual card numbers are not stored on the device, nor on Apple servers. Instead, a unique device account number is assigned, encrypted and securely stored on the device, with individual transactions being authorised with a one-time dynamic security code.
Apple Pay users will continue to receive their card benefits and rewards. Payment is made by users holding their devices in front of a contactless reader and placing their fingertip on the Touch ID to authorise the payment.
For online shopping, there is no need to repeatedly fill out account forms or type in shipping and billing information.
