The Orchard Road Business Association (Orba) has revealed plans for this year’s Orchard Rd Christmas displays and entertainment.
This year’s lighting display will be switched on at a ceremony outside Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza at 7pm on November 12. They will stay on until January 2.
This year’s theme is “Spread the joy”. Inspired by celebratory elements of confetti and light rays, the trees, overhangs and sidewalks along Singapore’s prime retail street will be adorned with glowing reindeer and sparkling stars. There will be five “unique and interactive installations which require hands-on interaction with your loved ones”, Orba explains.
The stretch of Orchard Rd between Scotts Rd and Bideford Rd will be closed to vehicular traffic from 3pm to 11pm on Saturday November 12 for visitors to relax in the festive atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy performances by local talents such as Jack & Rai and move to the beat with dancers from Glee Studios.
A Christmas market will be held during the road’s closure, with 30 to 40 stalls selling artisanal gifts and crafts. Other features include a trackless train, bouncy castle, Santa’s corner, life-size snow globe, food truck fest and vintage rides. Carollers and musicians from various schools and institutions will perform at Paragon and Orchard Gateway.
More than 100 student volunteers from Republic Polytechnic will be at Mandarin Gallery on Orchard Rd at 7pm on November 12, to give away multi-coloured light sticks to the public. Orba will donate $1 to the Community Chest for every light stick given out during the parade for charity.

7pm – 7.20pm: Christmas caroling by Cantonment Primary School.
7.20pm – 7.40pm: Christmas caroling by Stamford Primary School.
7.20pm – 7.40pm: Christmas caroling by Chij St Nicholas girls primary school.
8pm – 8.20pm: Christmas caroling by SGH Colorectal Cancer Survivors Group.
Orchard Gateway
7.15pm – 8.15pm: Hark Music School of Pop.
8.30pm – 8.40pm: Christmas caroling by Pasir Ris Primary School.
8.40pm – 9pm: Christmas caroling by Mee Toh School.
9pm – 9.20pm: Christmas caroling by Bartley Secondary School.
