Michael Kors Singapore flagship opens

Michael Kors has opened his first flagship store in Southeast Asia – in the Mandarin Gallery on Orchard Road.

The two-storey, 7000 sqft Michael Kors Singapore flagship held its formal opening this week, was graced by the New York designer himself, along with local celebrities and an eight minute appearance by Hollywood star Kate Hudson.

The new shop is the brand’s first free-standing outlet in Asia to feature a full-scale Michael Kors men’s shop.

The Orchard Road flagship takes the brand’s worldwide store network tally to 881.

Earlier this week Kors had an orchid named after him to commemorate the flagship’s opening. Called the ‘Dendrobium Michael Kors it also pays tribute to his contribution to the global fashion industry.

Meanwhile, Hudson’s brief appearance stems from the pair working together last month on a campaign for the UN World Food Program. Kors designed two electronic health trackers to sell in stores, donating 100 meals to the UN for every piece sold.
