Belle International opens more stores in China

Apparel, sportswear and footwear group Belle International Holdings added 30 retail outlets to its network in China during the third quarter.
This brought its total as at November 30 to 20,630 retail outlets, comprising 13,145 footwear outlets and 7485 sportswear and apparel outlets, all directly managed.
Company-owned brands of the footwear business include Basto, Belle, Joy & Peace, Mirabell, Senda, Staccato, Tata and Teenmix, while distribution brands include Bata, Caterpillar, Clarks, Hush Puppies and Mephisto.
Most of the sportswear and apparel business is in the form of retail distribution, including brands like Adidas, Converse, Moussy, Nike, Puma and Replay.
The Hong Kong-listed company says its unaudited figures for the quarter show a same-store sales decline of 13.4 per cent for footwear, while same-store sales for sportswear and apparel grew 4.6 per cent.
In October, Belle reported a 19.8 per cent profit fall for the six months to August, on revenue up 0.9 per cent to RMB19.526 billion (US$2.88 billion).
