Hong Kong Customs officers have arrested two female staff members of a beauty parlour suspected of having falsely described their services.
They were taken into custody for possible contravention of the Trade Descriptions Ordinance (TDO).
Customs earlier received information alleging that staff members of the beauty parlour were selling beauty treatment services with the offer of unlimited permanent use. After an investigation, Customs officers arrested the two women, aged 25 and 34 years.
While the investigation continues, the arrested persons have been released on bail.
Under the TDO, it is an offence to apply false descriptions to services supplied to consumers in the course of trade or business. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of HK$500,000 (US$64,000) and imprisonment for five years.
