Amazon UK recruiting 5000 staff to boost business

Amazon UK plans to recruit 5000 staff to expand its operations, taking its total headcount to 24,000.

“We are hiring for all types of roles, from flight-test engineers, software engineers and corporate managers in our development centres and head office to operations managers, engineers, service technicians and order fulfilment roles,”said Amazon UK manager Doug Gurr.

The US eCommerce giant is seeking software developers, technicians, engineers and logistics roles, targeting young workers who it will train in an apprenticeship program.

Staff will be deployed across the UK, including development centres in London, Edinburgh and Cambridge and new centres being developed in Doncaster, Daventry and Tillbury. The workers will be engaged in Amazon Alexa, Prime Air and other subsidiaries.

The company is also seeking staff at its head office, delivery centres across the region and in its east London photography studio.
