Annoushka Ducas opens boutique at hotel

British jewellery designer Annoushka Ducas has returned to Hong Kong to open The Annoushka store at the Mandarin Oriental.

Coincidentally, her new boutique is just around the corner from jeweller KS Sze & Sons where she designed her first piece, an art deco-inspired engagement ring, while living in Hong Kong in the 1980s.

“We have such a strong Chinese clientele in London, so it seemed logical to put some context to the brand and open a store here,” says Ducas. “I know the local retail market is struggling, but when The Mandarin approached us I realised it would be a great fit.”

Since leaving Hong Kong, Ducas founded and sold Links of London, and launched her Annoushka label in 2009. She has been awarded an MBE for her services to the British jewellery industry, and her creations have been bought by celebrities and royals including Gwyneth Paltrow, Rihanna and the Duchess of Cambridge.

Annoushka’s collections are driven by Ducas’ personal style and are pieces she wants to wear herself. She encourages customers to mix and match from different collections. Prices range anywhere from HK$2000 (US$258) to more than HK$100,000.

For the Hong Kong opening Ducas includes a pair of white gold, diamond and jade Flamenco earrings in the shape of a fan, a homage to the Mandarin’s logo.
