McDonald’s Macau to expand store network

McDonald’s Macau has marked its 30th anniversary by revealing plans to open three more stores in the SAR this year.

CEO of Golden Burger (Macau) Food Company, Michelle Ho, told a press briefing that the additional restaurants are part of a plan to boost sales. But she declined to reveal the locations.

“We will continue to grow the business and more stores will open in subsequent years,” she said.

“Our business continues to grow. We have not seen a decline in our business for over 10 years.”

There are 29 McDonald’s restaurants in Macau currently and another 50 operated by the company in nearby mainland cities of Zhongshan and Zhuhai.

To mark its 30 years in Macau, McDonald’s launched a Memories Playland at the Macau Science Center, which we remain open until May 7. It includes an exhibition of Happy Meal toys spanning three decades.

The first restaurant was opened on Rua do Campo on April 11, 1987 by  John Ho.
