Gome Electrical Appliances Holding says it intends to change its name to Gome Retail Holdings to better reflect its evolving retail model.

It also plans to adopt a new Chinese name, and the changes are subject to shareholder approval at a special general meeting, and the Registrar of Companies in Bermuda granting approval.

In listing its reasons for the name change, the company says it is exploring a new retail model in view of the trend of integrated online and offline retailing. The group says it has already maximised this integration through the interconnection of products, membership and services
online and offline.

“Meanwhile, by using technology and big data, the group can analyse user behaviour to better exploit and satisfy customer demand, creating a new retail ecosystem.”

Gome says it is transforming from an “appliance retailer” to an integrated provider of products and services with a theme based around “home”.

The board considers the change of company name will better reflect its current business
focus and the direction of future development.

Further announcements will be made by the company to inform shareholders of the poll
results at the special general meeting, the effective date of the change and the new short stock names of the company for share trading.
