A Lidl web shop has been launched in China on Alibaba’s Tmall Global.

It offers several of the German supermarket chain’s private labels, including Bellarom, Combino and Sondey, as it focusses on cereals and dry foods. If the shop is seen as successful, the company may expand its product range.

Lidl is shipping the products straight from Germany via a subsidiary in Hong Kong. It is a different approach to competitor Aldi, which also has a shop on Tmall Global, but imports its products from Australia.
