Pizza Capers plans India debut

Australian gourmet pizza chain Pizza Capers plans to break into the Indian market via a master franchise licence with Krsna Foods.

It is expected to be a stepping stone for the chain’s international growth.

Chief executive Mike Gilbert of Retail Food Group, which owns Pizza Capers, says India’s surging consumerism, increasing incomes and changes to lifestyle and eating patterns make it a potential market for international brands.

“We expect these factors to provide a huge platform upon which the Pizza Capers brand can prosper,” Gilbert says.

The Italian cuisine specialist, based in Queensland, was acquired by Retail Food Group in 2012. It has 10 outlets in Australia.
