SRPS closes after just three months

Just three months after launching, multi-concept store Steamroom with The Pillar and Stones (SRPS) at Orchard Central has closed.

The retail concept offered different sections in its 5000 sqft (465 sqm) space: the Steamroom offered Chinese teas, The Pillar was an 80-seat restaurant while The Stones was an area for retail and activities like art-jamming and workshops. Other features included a paludarium (garden aquarium).

SRPS is owned by The House of Weltanschauung, a company co-founded by Singapore artist Wong Lip Chin, who also designed the space. While he has declined comment, the store may have been shut down because of a licensing issue, reports the Straits Times.

Orchard Central, owned by Far East Organisation, confirms it is looking for a new tenant.
The executive chef at SRPS’s restaurant was Stephan Zoisl, who runs Chef’s Table by Chef Stephan in Tras Street, Tanjong Pagar.
