Online fashion retailer Revolve opens Hong Kong return centre

Online fashion retailer Revolve, based in Los Angeles, has set up a returns centre in Hong Kong, giving customers 30 days to send back unwanted products.

It is the second free service Revolve offers Hong Kong shoppers, having just introduced complimentary express shipping which takes three to five days.

“Hong Kong is the first region where we have launched the free return service after the United States. We believe that as the centre of Asian commerce and a free port, Hong Kong will potentially become one of our largest logistic hubs internationally,” Revolve international VP Kai Li told Inside Retail Hong Kong.

He says the service is geared not only for the quick-paced lifestyle of Hong Kong, but is also a value add to a business that carries more than 800 brands including trendsetters such as Alexis, For Love & Lemons and Free People as well as portfolio labels like Grlfrnd, Lovers + Friends and Tularosa.

As well as dropping off items at the returns centre, customers can opt to have them delivered via the Pay Upon Receipt service.

Asked for clarification by Inside Retail Hong Kong, Kai Li says the returns service excludes final sale items. Details and instructions are available on the company’s website.

He was also asked, given the 30-day window for returns, how Revolve would guard against people buying outfits to attend an event, then returning them for a refund after wearing them once. “We conduct return inspections locally in Hong Kong rather than sending back the returned items to LA for inspection,” he says. “We have more dedicated refund process for Hong Kong, and will be attaching hologram tags/stickers to our products soon.”

No further elaboration was offered.

Revolve entered Greater China in 2008, with Hong Kong now its second-largest market in Asia. The brand ships 2.4 million orders annually and has 12.5 million page visits a month globally.
