Onitsuka Tiger India has opened its first monobrand store, in Mumbai’s Palladium Mall.

In keeping with its Japanese origins, the brand features sumi mortar in the store interior, distinct material that has the texture of wood.

With 74sqm of retail space, the store stocks the brand’s signature collections of footwear, accessories and apparel for both men and women. Featured is the Onitsuka Tiger x Andrea Pompilio 2017 collection, as well as the new Soft Marty eco-concept sneaker.

Onitsuka Tiger products are already available in India through Madura Fashion & Lifestyle’s multibrand store The Collective, with the new store being launched by Japanese sportswear brand Asics.

“We will add one more store by the end of the year,” says Asics India MD Rajat Khurana. Further expansion will depend on consumer response.

“Onitsuka Tiger celebrates Japanese craftsmanship, with designs ranging from updated classic silhouettes to new styles and collaborations with like-minded artists,” he said at the store opening.
