Pinkboxcereal cafe has cosmetic appeal

Malaysia’s first beauty cafe, Pinkboxcereal, has opened at Empire Damansara at Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

Customers pay RM25 (US$6) each to experiment with different types of makeup and skincare products from local and international brands on an all-you-can-use basis for a up to two hours, plus they can take home a curated Emergency Beauty Kit.

While makeup brushes and such are shared, Pinkboxcereal replaces the products used for the cafe every month and sterilises the tools. Customers are also free to take along their own brushes and tools.

While there is no need to make an appointment for the makeup “buffet”, the cafe is open only at weekends. It is the concept of beauty vlogger Shafiqah Shafie, who originally aimed to set up an e-commerce site for cosmetics and skincare products.

For two years Shafiqah has been recording makeup tutorials and skincare regimes on YouTube. She does live-stream videos every week, some featuring her husband and Pinkboxcereal co-founder Iylia Fahmi.
Already the cafe is being used to bachelorette parties as well as birthday events.
