Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s collection quick to sell

Indian fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s capsule collection for luxury department store Lane Crawford was sold out within two days.

A second batch of the collection is now being offered at the Hong Kong store as well as on its website.

After collaborations with labels such as Christian Louboutin and Forevermark, Sabyasachi keeps the global audience in mind with this latest project. The handcrafted range features embroidered tulle tops, jacquard silk bodycon dresses, embellished tulle-overlay velvet skirts, sequined silk pants, georgette jumpsuits and embellished bomber jackets.

For inspiration, Sabyasachi says he imagined travellers flying in private jets from all over the world to China in cross-cultural handmade clothing. He also imagined women in Indian textiles, oriental reds, chinoiserie prints and sparkle, sitting upright on bright canvas chairs playing bridge and mahjong.

The colour palette mixes black and red with gold, moving into pastel shades of sage green, beige, blush peach and powder blue, reports Fashion United. Liberally sprinkled throughout the collection are floral motifs, both hand embroidered or printed.
