Toranoana Inc ventures to Taiwan

Japanese game retailer Toranoana Inc will open its first overseas branch store in Taiwan on March 23.

As part of the Yume (no) Sora Holdings group of companies which promotes creators across genres and national borders, Toranoana sells and distributes manga, anime products and doujinshi (self-published magazines), as well as offering store management.

The Toranoana Taipei branch is in the downtown Ximending area of the city. As well as doujinshi and manga by Japanese and Taiwanese creators, the 550sqm shop will sell a variety of products including original Toranoana goods.

To mark the store opening, it will host a special fair at which reproductions and autographed products from authors will be auctioned. Souvenir stamp cards allowing customers to receive rare products will also be distributed, as well as commemorative cards featuring illustrations by popular artists. Details will be announced on a special fair website.

For the store’s first four weeks, an illustrated card system will be used for customers. Once 10 stamps have been collected they can be exchanged for original Toranoana souvenirs.
