Violet Oon to open fourth eatery, at Ion Orchard

Singapore food celebrity Violet Oon will open a new restaurant at Ion Orchard in October.

The 100-seat brasserie will be Oon’s fourth eatery in the city, and will be located in a gazebo on the mall’s third level.

Taking up a 2700sqft space, the restaurant will serve a hybrid menu, based on colonial-era fare: British food reinterpreted by Hainanese chefs, complemented by traditional local favourites like chicken rice, beef rendang and dry laksa.

Alongside the restaurant will be a retail space selling goodies produced in Violet Oon’s central kitchen, such as cookies, pastries and kaya jam.

The Ion Orchard restaurant and store will be run in partnership with Oon’s business associate Manoj Murjani and her children Tay Su-Lyn and Tay Yiming.

The restaurateur’s other restaurants include National Kitchen by Violet Oon at the National Gallery Singapore, which serves Peranakan food and Singapore favourites.
