Great World City adds Uniqlo, Meidi-Ya to tenant mix

River Valley district mall Great World City has announced the completion of Phase 1A of its asset enhancement initiative.

The mall is unveiling a mix of retail and dining options in this phase, as well as an additional entrance along Kim Seng Promenade that draws visitors directly into a dining zone. Japanese retailers Uniqlo and Meidi-Ya, among others, have joined the mix of tenants.

A Meidi-Ya spokesperson said there is a growing demand for Japanese products in Singapore, and it is a timely opportunity for the brand to extend its reach in the Great World City area. “We also believe our outlet perfectly complements the other Japanese-themed shops that will be opening in the mall.”

A spokesperson for Uniqlo said response at the new Great World City outlet has been positive. “The new store presents local shoppers and tourists alike with the opportunity to shop for their favourite quality clothing at a central location.”

Great World City will be completed in phases over a period of two years as business continues in the mall with only some disruptions to existing operations. A number of existing tenants have been relocated within the mall.

The project will be completed in 2020.
