Republic Plaza in Singapore relaunched after S$70 million upgrade

City Developments has launched its newly revamped Republic Plaza, its flagship property in the heart of Raffles Place.

The reopening follows an extensive SG$70 million (US$50.67 million) asset enhancement initiative that started in April last year.

While Republic Plaza had previously undergone several enhancements, this was its first major facelift since the building was completed in 1996. The 66-storey, 280-metre-tall building it is housed in is one of Singapore’s tallest skyscrapers.

The enhancement initiative included a major makeover of the structure’s main lobby, arrival frontage, and individual lift lobbies as well as lift modernisation and significant interior enhancements to drive space efficiency. In addition, Republic Plaza’s retail podium has expanded by another 3400 sqft of lettable retail space created from the partial conversion of its car parking area. Public area layouts were reworked to improve pedestrian traffic, and technical specifications were upgraded to cater for a greater variety of F&B offerings.

Republic Plaza now spans a 24,100sqft retail enclave across three levels, housing close to 40 F&B and retail outlets including popular names such as Din Tai Fung, Starbucks, Cafe Amazon, Mos Burger, Cedele, and Dimbulah.

More than 80 per cent of the plaza’s retail tenants are new, while some returning tenants include TWG Tea, Patisserie Glace, The Herbal Bar and Bose.
