Uniqlo Singapore is to open a ‘Hub of the East’ store next month, a new and bigger store in Tampines mall.
The new store also pays homage to the first neighbourhood that it served when the Japanese brand first entered the city state 12 years ago. Spanning two stories, Uniqlo Tampines is almost twice the size of the original store. The ‘Hub of the East’ store is scheduled to open on February 5.
“Tampines is the first neighbourhood Uniqlo served when it opened in Singapore in April 2009 and it holds a special place in our heart,” said Joyce Tan, marketing director at Uniqlo Singapore. “With much appreciation for the support given to us over the decade, we remain committed to offering a better LifeWear experience for our consumers with the new store.”
Staff who have been with Uniqlo since day one share their fond memories of the launch.
“My first job out of school was a temporary job at Uniqlo in Tampines for the brand’s launch. I still remember the excitement of opening the first store,” said Julia, now assistant merchandising planning manager at Uniqlo Singapore.
“The past decade has been a journey of professional and personal growth, and I am excited for the next chapter with the new Uniqlo Tampines Mall launch.”
In celebration of the launch, Uniqlo Singapore will run an Instagram campaign for its followers to share their first memory of Uniqlo in Tampines.
