Datalogic Skorpio X5: the world’s most-advanced, key-based mobile computer

Datalogic has just launched the world’s most-advanced, key-based mobile computer – a rugged device constructed to withstand the harshest of environments.

The Skorpio X5 is ultra-fast and features the largest and brightest multi-touch display in the Portable Data Terminal (PDT) market, a 4.3-inch Gorilla Glass screen, which is unrivalled for readability in any lighting condition, including bright outdoor environments.

For applications like warehousing, fulfillment, inventory, store operations, shipping and receiving, the need to maintain rapid, accurate and seamless data capture to provide real-time visibility is essential.

That’s where the new Skorpio X5 comes in, enabling retail, transportation, logistics, manufacturing and healthcare companies to reach new levels of reliability and flexibility.

The Skorpio X5 also features the latest generation of scan engines designed and developed by Datalogic allowing customers to choose the scan engine that will better fit with their business needs: Linear imager, Standard 2D imager, the new and unique Mid-Range imager, and soon-to-be-available Auto Range version for extra-long-range readings.

Workers using the Skorpio X5 can immediately read any barcode, in any condition, even if labels are damaged or scratched, visible or covered.

Better still, the device is tailor-made for any indoor or outdoor environment. It has been tested to sustain multiple drops of up to 1.8 metres onto concrete, hermetically sealed to stop dust intruding, and has an IP65 rating for protection against waterjets.

The Skorpio X5 is lightweight, ergonomically designed for comfort during use and perfectly balanced to reduce user fatigue.

Yet, the device is ultra fast, thanks to a powerful  2.2Ghz CPU Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 platform CPU. Such firepower allows the user to run the most demanding enterprise applications seamlessly and simultaneously, enhancing productivity in all scan-intensive applications. The functional keyboard design delivers enhanced tactile feel from key presses for faster data entry and function keys serve as shortcuts for frequently used applications, while SoftSpot technology powers a virtual floating scan trigger,

Andrew Duncan, SVP product marketing at Datalogic, says the powerful new computer will allow operators and businesses to achieve new levels of productivity.

“It brings the highest computational CPU power, the largest and brightest screen display, and the latest generation of scan engines, including a unique Mid-Range imager.”

The Skorpio X5 wireless charging models are the only PDTs on the market with future-proof, wireless charging technology providing top reliability and the lowest cost of ownership.
