Singaporean retailer opens three AI-powered unmanned grocery stores

Singapore AI unmanned convenience store Pick&Go chain has grown to three stores, the latest opening in an AI-powered space called My Village.

Located inside the National University of Singapore and spanning more than 3000sqft, My Village was built based as a cashier-less, checkout-free convenience store experience. The space was designed to provide a multi-sensorial experience, engaging the five senses of visitors.

The store will display the different media collateral of the businesses in My Village through Prism+ while Scent by Six has created a scent using “fragrance intelligence” to uplift moods and accentuate the shopping experience. My Village will also house a cafe, bakery and bubble tea store.

“During the Covid-19 pandemic, many local businesses were forced to operate digitally,” said Alex Ng, founder and director of Pick&Go. “As the situation gets better this year, we see My Village as a platform for local companies to explore new products and concepts, and for shoppers to experience them as brick & mortar retail stages an impactful comeback.”

My Village store is set to house about 50 local brands by the end of this year.

Founded in 2019 with its first flagship store at Singapore University of Technology and Design, Pick&Go is the first AI unmanned convenience store in the country. The company opened its second store last November at Lakepoint Condo.
