Japanese coffee chain %Arabica has made its US debut with the first store in Dumbo, New York.
Overlooking the Brooklyn Bridge and Lower Manhattan, the store was designed by French studio, Cigue, who is behind designs of Aesop stores in France and the UK.
“When our founder Kenneth opened our global flagship store in Kyoto in 2014, he had an ultimate goal to open stores in Paris and New York,” the company said in a statement. “Kenneth is a huge fan of Cigue, and he chose to work with them for the US flagship store, a super important project for him.”
To match the neighborhood’s signature building exteriors, %Arabica Dumbo Roastery was designed with orange bricks inside the store. A long tube lamp is hung over the counter and Chemex hanging lamps are installed over the stool counter seats.
The store houses a 22kg Probat roasting machine and 1kg Tornano King roasting machine. Besides offering coffee, %Arabica Dumbo also provides custom roasting service which allows customers to select beans and roasting types.
