Korean brand Gentle Monster has launched its first brick-and-mortar store in Japan, ramping up its expansion across the Asian region.
Located at the Hankyu Umeda Main Store in Osaka, the store features a kinetic installation ‘The Giant Head’ which is a collaboration with Selfridges and Reference Studios and which was on display at Sydney Airport’s Terminal 1 earlier this year.
The store offers the brand’s collections including its “Bold Collection”, which features the stars of the galaxy as metaphors for its boldness.
With a design philosophy that goes from extraordinary to understated, Hankook Kim created the South Korean luxury eyewear company in 2011 to fill what he perceived as a vacuum in the Asian market by bringing the large eyewear trend to the next level.
Gentle Monster collaborated with Maison Margiela in March to open pop-up shops throughout the world.
