Chinese collectible art toys retailer Pop Mart is further expanding its presence in Europe with its France debut.

Located inside the Westfield Forum des Halles shopping mall, the first Pop Mart store in Paris also marks the brand’s first permanent store in Continental Europe.

“Paris is the artistic and cultural capital of Europe and one of the world capitals of art,” said Alan Mai, director of Pop Mart Western region. “The opening of Pop Mart in Paris will help develop the brand’s international image and share Asian pop culture with European artists.”

Pop Mart’s launch in France came about a year after it entered the UK as part of the brand’s trial operation in the region. The first UK store opened in Shaftesbury Avenue, central London.

Last year, the collective toys giant rapidly expanded into new markets beyond Mainland China, including the US, South Korea, Taiwan, Melbourne and New Zealand. The brand has about 400 points of sales around the world, mostly in China.

Justin Moon, VP of Pop Mart and president of Pop Mart International, disclosed the expansion to Inside Retail last year.

“We are proactively entering markets like the US and in Europe, like the UK and France, so I hope that [this year] we can grow many stores [in those markets],” Moon said. “Our international business has the highest potential opportunity.”

The toy retailer is in developing multiple new markets concurrently, including in Southeast Asia, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Thailand.
