Music instrument business Roland is ramping up its retail strategy globally with the first physical Roland Store opening in Tokyo, Japan.

Located in Harajuku, the store spans three storeys and will open its doors in October, and will house Roland’s latest electronic musical instruments.

The first level of the Roland Store Tokyo will feature a wide range of synthesisers, digital wind instruments, Roland Cloud and DJ-related items, instrument accessories, and Roland apparel.

The second floor will host a selection of Roland’s best-selling digital pianos, while the basement level will include a mix of Roland V-Drums kits and Boss brand items suitable for beginner to advanced drummers and guitarists.

“The purpose of opening Roland Store Tokyo is to give the visitors a genuine experience of connecting with our products and culture in an intimate environment,” said Gordon Raison, CEO and representative director of Roland Corporation.

“By opening our store in Harajuku, a centre of music, fashion, art, and fun subcultures, we hope to deliver our vision to as many music lovers as possible, further promoting creativity across our customers.”

The Tokyo store follows the success of Roland’s first retail store, which opened in London last year to commemorate the brand’s 50th anniversary.

Roland opened its first retail store-in-store in the UK in 2001, afterwards extending throughout Europe and Japan. Roland Stores have also opened in a number of locations across the US, in addition to Glasgow, Montreal, Beijing, Sydney, and Sao Paulo.
