Reliance Retail is reportedly exploring the possibility of bringing US apparel brand Old Navy to the Indian market.
The company is currently in “exploratory” stages of the process, some unnamed sources told India Retailing.
Launched in 1994, Old Navy has grown to over 1200 stores and is currently owned by Gap Inc. The other brands in Gap Inc’s portfolio include Gap, Banana Republic, and women’s activewear brand Athleta.
If a deal is reached, Old Navy will be the second brand from Gap that Reliance Retail brings to the Indian market.
The Mumbai-based retail company entered a franchise agreement with Gap last year to sell products of the Gap brand across brick-and-mortar stores, department stores, and online channels in India.
The India Retailing sources added that Reliance Retail could also be looking to introduce Banana Republic in India.
