Vietnamese coffee chain Cong Ca Phe (Cong) has established its first brick-and-mortar store in Canada, marking the brand’s third international market after South Korea and Malaysia.

Located in Toronto, the coffee store has a retro style that was inspired by its founder Linh Dung’s childhood memories of Hanoi during the period from 1976 to 1986, reflecting the essence of Vietnam’s cultural legacy.

Customers can experience Cong’s ‘signature drinks’ including Coconut Coffee Smoothie, Ca Phe Sua Da (Vietnamese iced milk coffee), and the Saigon Salted Kumquat.

Cong was founded in 2007 on a little coffee street in the heart of Hanoi, and now has 63 locations in Vietnam, nine in South Korea and three in Malaysia.

Cong is one of the few Vietnamese coffee chains with international locations. Another brand, Trung Nguyen, began its worldwide expansion last year with several locations in Shanghai and a store in the US. Meanwhile, Phuc Long coffee chain, which was acquired by Masan Group, opened its first store in California in 2021.

According to Statista, there are 1657 coffee chain stores in Vietnam this year, with Highland Coffee leading the board with 609 locations.
