Singapore’s largest omnichannel secondhand fashion destination Refash has expanded into Hong Kong to revive preloved apparel.

Refash’s first Hong Kong store, under the Carousell Group, will open on April 20 at Moko in Mongkok, marking the brand’s entrance into Hong Kong beyond its current outlets in Singapore and Malaysia.

Refash’s first Hong Kong store will offer the same shopping experience as its existing Singapore and Malaysia locations. Hong Kong customers can access an inventory of ‘brand new with tags’ (BNWT) women’s fashion from popular labels from Singapore and other major Southeast Asian brands that would otherwise be unavailable in the Hong Kong market.

According to Carousell, these items are priced with savings of up to 70 per cent off the original retail price. A ‘Celebrity Closets’ collection features preloved items from 10 local influencers and celebrities committed to the sustainable fashion movement.

“Refash was started eight years ago to extend the lifespan of clothes and build a more sustainable future for fashion,” said Refash founder and CEO Aloysius Sng.

“I am heartened that over the years, we have collectively diverted more than 7.3 million clothes from the landfills and given 3.6 million used clothes a second life. We wanted to target the Hong Kong market after our Malaysia expansion last year, as we saw a market gap to reach the mass market of Hongkongers. We believe sustainability should not be a trend, but part of everyday life.”

Refash, founded in 2016, aims to “inspire a new generation of consumers to think secondhand first”. The brand has 20 outlets in Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong, and has processed more than 7 million items of clothing it says would otherwise have ended up in landfills.
