Vietnamese milk tea startup Phuc Tea has launched its first physical location in the Philippines, marking the brand’s international debut.

The company has inked a master franchise arrangement with SM Group and will sell its products under the label HappiTea. The first store is located at SM City shopping mall in Manila.

Phuc Tea began in 2017 as a small milk tea vendor cart and now has more than 145 locations in Vietnam.

According to local sources, the franchise partner plans to open 20 outlets in the Philippines this year. Phuc Tea was also reported to be in negotiation to expand into Indonesia and Malaysia.

Two other Vietnamese businesses Care With Love and Pho’s successfully secured a franchise agreement in the Philippines last year. These are part of Go Global Holdings’ ecosystem, which is Vietnam’s first franchise accelerator and investment fund for small and medium enterprises.
