South Korean cafe chain A Twosome Place is preparing to open its first company-owned location in the US next year, signalling a renewed push into international markets after withdrawing from China three years ago.

The cafe has not yet revealed the exact location or timeline for the US debut, but the move is part of a broader strategy to export Korean-style cafe culture globally.

Founded in 2002, A Twosome Place operates more than 1700 stores across South Korea and is known for its premium desserts. The chain began franchising in 2008 and was acquired by The Carlyle Group in 2021.

Domestically, the brand is rolling out its ‘Twosome 2.0’ concept, a premium store design, in key Seoul districts. Plans are in place to expand this concept nationwide while incorporating new elements into existing locations.

The chain withdrew from China after closing more than 40 stores in 2022, following years of sluggish sales in the market.
